Today I want to share one of our very favorite holiday recipes. This tradition was begun while I was a young girl and my family lived in Texas. In Texas, it was a tradition to have a pot of Wassail going the whole month of December to serve friends and neighbors who drop in. Even though we no longer live in Texas, we continue this tradition in our home. It is yummy and I love to have this ready to drink at a moments notice. I will be mixing this up today to serve throughout the month.
Wassail
4 Cups pineapple juice
1 1/2 Cups apricot nectar
4 Cups apple cider
1 Cup orange juice
Place in crockpot. Then add:
2 Sticks cinnamon
2 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
Place spices in cheesecloth and float in juice mixture. Warm in crockpot and Enjoy!
What Holiday Bliss is happening in your home today?
Can I come to your house right now for a nice warm cup of wassail? Sounds amazing!
C’mon over. 🙂
Oh, how cool! I’ve never actually had wassail.. I’ve only sung the song. Maybe I’ll make some this Christmas!
I’ve never made this, but think my boys would love it!
I’ve never had wassail, but it sounds yummy!
I thought Wassail was just hot apple cider. I’ll have to give this one a try. Do you just leave the crockpot on constantly for the whole month of December? Or do you mix it up and have it ready to go in the crock pot at a moments notice? The smell would be wonderful all day long though.
I usually just leave it on the warm setting of my crockpot all day and evening. I generally turn it off a bit before bed so it cools down and then refrigerate it overnight. Then back in the crockpot first thing in the morning and warmed all day. 🙂
A mug of this would be wonderful right now. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I’ll plan on trying this.
