I have decided to share a 72 day daily challenge with you each day until Easter, April 1st. We are doing this in our Relief Society, and I thought I would like to share it here as well. I shared a little about the challenge here.
Each day I will share the daily video here and then my personal thoughts about it after I have personally watched it. Today is Day 63.
Jesus Is Laid in a Tomb
The Savior’s body is taken by Joseph of Arimathea to a garden tomb. Angels appear and remove the stone from the front of the tomb. Mary and other women visit the empty tomb.
Matthew 27:57-60
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
My Impressions:
I love how the video went just a bit further into the story. First they showed the respect with which the Savior was laid to rest. Then the power that the angels had to open the tomb when it was time. And then how they guarded and waited so they could witness and declare that He was not there but had Risen! It warms my heart.
