I spent a lot of today working on the book covers for my series. I have a nifty little software program that makes this a bit easier than just using Photoshop or Indesign. I would love to show you the cover for my first book, but I ran into a little problem. For some reason, it won’t let me save my work and export it. I have an email into support. They thought they had a fix for me, but that only made the problem worse. So I am again waiting for a response. I hope we can get it solved because I really, really love what I created. Opinions around the home are very favorable as well. I don’t really want to figure out how to create what I did in a different program. That just wouldn’t be fun.
I am also taking an online course called Introduction to Forensic Science. It’s actually from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow.
We will be using a real case study to try and solve the crime using the things we are learning about forensic science. I completed about 1/3 of the lessons for Week 1 today. There are 23 lessons this week and a live class this Friday. I hope I can get the timezones straight and attend. It should be fun. And I thought this class would be great for me as a writer. It will come in handy as I delve into mysteries and thrillers.
Other than that, I just did our normal bit of homeschooling. We played Wii Sports today for PE. That was fun and I once again thoroughly entertained Chandler on my lack of awesomeness in video game sports. The sad part of that is that I actually increased in skill in both golf and bowling.
I spent the evening watching the CBS shows that we love to watch that actually aired yesterday. We are hooking up a laptop and streaming it from the CBS site to our tv through a hdmi cable. Our cable provider is in a fight with the local CBS affiliate and the affiliate has blacked us out because we don’t want to pay SIX times what we were before. I would just switch providers, but they are entering the same snit with the other provider as well. So really no point and not much to do other than wait it out. We are currently in Day 4 of the black out. Chandler checked earlier today to see if we had a resolution yet and were back on the air. Of course we weren’t. I launched into a story about it being day 4 and the offender still has not relinquished control, etc. He laughed, said I was weird and then said thanks. Glad I could lighten the moment. It’s what we writers and mothers live for. It is just extra dangerous when we are both mother and writer. You never really know what will happen.
