So I know you are expecting me to say that I managed to write lots and lots on this first day of the year and challenge. That is what first days are all about, right? Well, I didn’t write anything other than this post I am writing right this very minute. And that was exactly what I expected. Confused?
I pretty much knew that this first day was a holiday and thus it meant I spent the day with family and doing family things. I did manage to watch 2 movies with the family, which was also expected. We watched Maleficent and Divergent if you were wondering. Both good movies and I enjoyed them cuddled into my hubby on the loveseat at my parents. We had gotten those movies for Christmas and my parents hadn’t seen either of them yet. It was a nice day.
Now lest you think I totally slacked off, I didn’t. I worked some of the plot for my series out in my head. I also read a very long first chapter of a book I am reading about Thrillers. I am reading, Writing Thrillers, The Writer’s Guide to Crafting Tales of Suspense, by Michael Newton. It’s pretty good. I will most likely read chapter 2 once I go to bed and before I drift off to sleep. I’ve read several writing books lately, but none specific for Thrillers, which I am about to embark on writing. So I am learning some things that set them apart from other genres. And though I didn’t actually write anything, I am currently in a learning process. And I will begin plotting the entire series on paper in the next day or two. Yes, I plot. It makes my writing tighter and that is needed for this particular genre. Doesn’t mean that I won’t still find a few surprises along the way as I write. I always seem to. It makes the process fun.
Tomorrow, (which is most likely today when you are reading this,) I will be busy doing some things for Home & School Mosaics. And I need to redo the schedule for the last half of school this year. We altered a couple of things, and I promised the boy I would make new planners for the rest of the year. Since we start again on Monday, I need to get that done.
So although I didn’t get any writing done today, I did exactly what I expected to do. And that is just fine. 🙂 I am headed to bed here in a couple of minutes. So I am working on going to bed earlier. In case you are wondering, it is just about 10:30 here. Since I’ve been going to bed between 1 and 2 am lately, this is definite progress. Go me!
