This year I have decided to take some drastic steps towards accountability for myself as a writer. One of those steps will involve this blog. I don’t write here nearly enough, and it is time I did something about that. So I am going to make use of my blog and my writing goals this year. I hope you like it.
I have been reading a blog by a writer for a couple of years. I read it faithfully every single day. I have learned a lot about writing from him and honestly, I think that maybe doing my own take on what he is doing will not only make me keep this blog happening regularly, but will also help me get my books out and published. He writes in public. I linked to his blog above, just so you can see what I am proposing here.
I have decided to basically report what I have accomplished each day. This will of course involve homeschooling things, as well as the things I do for Home & School Mosaics as the publisher. It will involve the editing I do for Forget Me Not Publications. And it will involve what I am doing exactly on the books I am writing. I have set some concrete goals this year and I am determined that they will happen. It might be kind of fun to share what I am writing as I do it.
You can count on a report of the previous day and what I did each morning. So tomorrow, there will be a post reporting what, if anything, I managed to accomplish on my writing. I will post these 6 days a week. On Saturday, you will get the report for what I did on Friday. And on Monday morning, it will be a report for the weekend. That is my plan for now. We will see how it works. I am not opposed to revising if necessary.
I hope you like it. I think it will be fun, and it will keep me accountable and help me to track where my time is being spent so I can set better goals for 2016.
Here are my goals, both personal and work related, for 2015:
- Post on blog 6 times per week-all about publishing & daily activities for accountability & time & progress tracking.
- Go to bed earlier.
- Get healthier through exercise & nutrition.
- Reduce sugar intake.
- Reduce stress & commitments.
- Write & publish 9 to 12 personal books of fiction.
Here are the family goals we set for 2015:
- Continue reading scriptures daily and having family prayer.
- Read Jesus the Christ as a family.
- All work together to clean the house.
- When the weather is nice, we will go on family walks.
- Have a family vacation.
Pretty good goals overall. I think they are all attainable and this should make for a great year!
