This week we are discussing Art. If you have missed the past three weeks of the fair, you can find my entries with links to the other entries below:
We aren’t huge artists around here. We try…but well, it just isn’t a talent we possess. However, we DO enjoy art. Here is a look at a couple of things we have used:
Spears Art Studio-We used this one a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the many different art projects that were included. It gave us somewhere to go for ideas and for things to learn about that pertained to art. It has a Christian view and the projects we did were quite fun. I did a review of it a couple of years ago that you can read here. I do recommend this as a great way to explore different art mediums in a non-threatening way. Perfect for when you want to play with art but not live and breathe it.
Artistic Pursuits–This is a more serious art curriculum. It really walks the student through a series of lessons that include art history. We liked seeing examples of art too. I did a review of this one a couple of years ago as well. You can read that review here. I do recommend it for those who want a serious approach to their art curriculum.
Mark Kistler’s Imagination Station–We are currently using this and we love it. Chandler has been drawing his own comic strip for many years, and this has helped him make his characters more like what he wants. He has learned many neat techniques and has turned out some pretty fun pictures. This is a very relaxed-no pressure curriculum and I highly recommend it.
