Tonight I am sitting here in a “Meet the Candidates” forum. The idea is for the community to come together and listen to the platforms of the candidates in our local races. I find it interesting how diverse the opinions are in such a small community. But even though I find this interesting, I am tired of all of it. I long for November to arrive and these elections to be over.
I hate all the political calls that make my phone ring over and over again. I am so over it. If I wanted to donate to a National Committee, then you would already have my money. Quit calling me and asking me if I am sure my no still means no. You aren’t my child hoping to get a different answer, though you are sure acting like it. You are only making my answer of NO firmer. Just stop it now.
I am tired of plastic candidates. You know the ones I mean. The candidates that sound like puppets and have been spoon fed exactly what to say and how to say it. I hate people who are fake, and you are fake. I want candidates that know what they believe and aren’t afraid to say it and then back it up. Get real and then maybe I will pay attention to you. If you can’t show passion for your platform as a candidate, then how can I expect you to be passionate in your views as my representative. I don’t need a plastic puppet as a representative. We have enough of those already. Oh, and I expect you to be honest. That’s part of being real.
It is important that you understand that we believe in the constitution and if you want my vote, then you will uphold it and fight for it. We teach the principles of the constitution in our home. We know it and believe in it. You should understand that my son will be 18 and voting in the upcoming election. If you are not found to be stalwart in those principles of the constitution, you won’t be getting his vote either. He is smart and is aware. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Some of the funniest observations about political candidates often come from him. If you aren’t what you say you are, he won’t vote for you because he doesn’t trust you. I won’t either. One more thing and it is super important: If you espouse socialism, communism, fascism, or any other ism that wants to replace the constitution and our republic, you’d better just keep on walking. We will never listen to you and your views. Don’t waste our time.
We live in a great country-The United States of America- where we are able to vote. I look forward to casting my vote for each candidate that supports my views. I’ll see you at the voting booth this November. Then maybe we can get a couple of months of peace and quiet until the calls start for the 2016 elections. Sigh…
