There has been a part of me that I’ve only allowed a handful of people to know. That is the writer. Oh sure, several of you know I write. Some of you know that once upon a time I wrote as a professional freelancer and ghostwriter. But what many do not know is that I also write poetry and fiction.
Since I am eclectic in my homeschooling, it should come as no big surprise that I am also eclectic in my writing. I get bored quickly, so to only focus on one genre would have me quickly getting a glazed over look and dissatisfaction. So what is a girl to do when she has eclectic tastes, but doesn’t want ALL of her works to be under her real name? She adopts pen names. But the thing about me is that while a lot of writers have pen names and keep them secret, I really won’t keep them a secret. I’m just making it possible for my readers to narrow down the things they want to read by pen name. If you are eclectic in your reading like me, you might follow all of them. Or not. It’s really up to the individual.
One of the things I have done this past year, is to launch a publishing house for myself and the writers in my family. We all pretty much are addicted to this writing thing. Unfortunately, since I am the editor for my husband and son, it means I don’t get to write quite as much as I want. But I am working on that.
Right now, I am in the process of writing a fiction piece under one of my pen names. I am hoping to release it by September, with another couple of novellas releasing under that pen name throughout the following couple of months. I’ll announce that pen name and fiction piece once I am closer to where I need to be with it.
I am also working on a non-fiction book that should release later this month under my real name. And another non-fiction that will release in August.
My son has written his first novel for the tween market. It’s an adventure story. I am in the process of editing it and sending it back for rewrites. Then we have cover design and we’ll have it released in the next couple of months as well.
As I write this, my husband is working on his next gardening book. His first one has been a success and was the reason we launched the publishing house back in February.
As you can see, I am busy, busy, busy. But it’s FUN!
What I envision for this column is that I will update you on Fridays on what is going on with my writing and publishing. And perhaps give you a peek into my life as a writer, editor, and publisher. I hope you have as much fun with this as I hope I will. Letting everyone into my world is a big step for me. Hopefully I can stay on track and you’ll enjoy it. It’s worth a shot, right?
