When we made the decision to homeschool in our family, I began to devour everything I could get my hands on to help me understand what I needed to do to make it a great experience. I literally spent hour after hour learning everything I could so that I could help our son. Even after days, weeks, and even months of preparation, I still didn’t feel I was properly prepared to do the job. But I had exhausted our public library and had spent literally weeks glued to the computer researching online. Still I wasn’t sure how to efficiently handle our extended family members and the questions I knew would be coming our way. How could I, when I still wasn’t sure myself?
When our first day of school arrived, I pasted on my smile and faked my way through it. I continued to do that all year long and when asked how it was going I would confidently reply, “Great!” *(Although to be honest, I was still shaking in my boots. I just didn’t let anyone know it.)
During that first year, whenever I came across something I wasn’t sure about, I would again spend hours researching. Many times it seemed like the information was contradictory and I would often feel confused. I needed someone to guide me and answer my questions, but instead, I had other friends asking me the very questions I was trying to figure out myself. I learned a lot during that year and I am still learning. It is a process that really takes time and just when you think you might have it figured out, the needs tend to shift and change.
When I received my first lesson from Homeschooling ABC’s, I found myself nodding along with author, Terri Johnson, and agreeing with her advice founded on 11 years of homeschooling her own children. The lesson was filled with great advice for a quick start to beginning to homeschool in just 48 hours! I tend to overcomplicate things if you couldn’t already tell, and she made it sound so simple to begin educating your child. In all actuality, she is correct. It is a simple process and Homeschooling ABC’s makes it even more simple. It literally cuts the learning curve by years! I only wish I had access to this course a couple of years ago when I was contemplating how to begin homeschooling.
The course is easy to follow and within 26 lessons (6 months), you will have a solid foundation that will enable you to provide the best education that will meet the needs of your own children. You will learn about the different learning styles and homeschooling methods. You will learn how to choose your curriculum, what to do if you don’t like what you initially chose, how to handle questions about socialization and how to incorporate fun into the learning process and so much more! The course is easy to digest as you receive one lesson per week. This is fantastic because it lets you put into practice the things you learn each week so that they can become habits and not overwhelm you in the process.
The Homeschooling ABC’s course is well worth the $10 per month price tag. You receive many bonuses and free curriculum items along the way and the information is based on solid Christian principles that are applicable to any Christian homeschool program. I have found that the information that Terri includes in the lessons are the very same things I would say to anyone wanting to learn how to homeschool their children. And I think it is valuable information that the veteran homeschooler will find not only useful as well, but also refreshing and will help to invigorate their own programs.
Let Terri guide you through the alphabet of homeschooling with her Homeschooling ABC’s course. I think that you will find answers to everything you can think to ask about homeschooling from A to Z and everything in between.
