One of the things we are doing this holiday season is taking 15 minutes each day and listening to an old time radio show. It is fun and a new experience for my son. He has been fascinated by the fact that people didn’t have television back in the day and had these radio shows instead. We have set the scene for him of families gathering around the large old time radio and listening to their show each night or each week.
The nice thing about the old time radio shows is that they are truly family friendly. They are clean and you don’t have to worry about the content like you do with the television these days. It has been fun to put ourselves in the place of families of years past and listen to these shows together as a family.
We are listening to a radio show series called The Cinnamon Bear. I found this show at Homeschool Freebie of the Day. There is even a free coloring book that you can download for the kids. The 26 episode series is available to download in mp3 format at that site and will be there until Christmas. You can get it here for free. It has been loads of fun to listen to the adventures of The Cinnamon Bear and the children as they try to find the silver star for their Christmas Tree that was stolen by the Crazy Quilt Dragon. Each episode is only 15 minutes in length and is ended with a cliff-hanger that leaves you excited for the next episode. You still have time to catch up if you are interested. It really is fun and I am glad we are doing it.
What Holiday Bliss are you celebrating in your home today?
