P is for Publishing. As some of you may know, I have been involved with writing and publishing for several years now. I have my own publishing company where I publish a small and select number of authors, including my husband and son, as well as my own books. I am trying to persuade my husband to finish a couple of his manuscripts so I can publish them. (He writes gardening how-to books, if you didn’t know already.) I am currently behind on publishing the Children’s series my son wrote. I am still in editing and formatting. I only have 5 to finish getting ready for publication. He is currently writing book 7 in the series. He plans on concluding this series with 9 books. And he just pitched a science fiction/fantasy series to me that he wants to write once he is finished with the children’s series. He is going for an older readership on the new series and honestly, I love his idea. And yes, I was serious when I said he had to pitch the idea. I didn’t just automatically publish him. He had to work hard for it. I turned him down several times before I finally accepted a manuscript. And then I sent it back for rewrites a few times. He is nothing if not persistent.
I am also the publisher for a website dedicated to home and family called Home & School Mosaics. I run that with my good friend, Heidi. We have also published a couple of books on Kindle under the Homeschool Mosaics name on Amazon. We are probably past due to publish another now that I think of it. I may have to put my brain with Heidi’s and see what the two of us can come up with and get that project going soon.
Publishing pretty much takes up my world. I am always working on something in the field, whether I am planning, writing, editing, designing or sending to print. I am busy with words. I love it. It makes me happy. I love just about everything about it. P is for Publishing and this is my world.
