F is for food.
Today, Chandler and I started a 6 week course through the University of Wyoming called the Cent$ible Nutrition Program.
We will be learning about better nutrition and ways to save money while eating healthier. I thought it would be a great class to take together and it will help prepare him for being out on his own in the future. We are taking the adult class together, though the instructor was thrilled to have a young man in the class. They don’t get to teach the teenagers very often, so she is excited for the opportunity. Chandler didn’t have a choice. I told him it was going on his transcript and was school. He rolled his eyes.
Today we got a folder filled with lots of information and a recipe for granola. We made a batch of that in the class today. It was pretty good. We also got an elastic band to exercise with and a sheet with some different exercises we can do with it. Chandler did think that was pretty cool. Over the next few weeks we will be getting some kitchen gadgets like measuring spoons and cups and at the last class, we will get our choice of one of two different cookbooks. We have already decided to get opposite ones so we have both in our home. We are planning on using them this next school year as I am making him take a Home Ec course to prepare him for being on his own. Again, he has rolled his eyes about it. But he is looking forward to cooking together. He does like to do that. It just isn’t the coolest thing for a 17 yr old boy to do with his mom. So I get the eye rolls so he can maintain his cool factor. I pretend I don’t see the accompanying smile.
