I just stumbled upon this cute little weekly meme and thought it would be fun to participate. The idea is to go through the alphabet and describe your homeschool. Since last week was the letter A, I thought I would combine A & B and that way we are all caught up.
I asked Chandler and Gary to help me come up with words that describe our homeschool. Chandler immediately answered that A is for Awesome! So awesome it is…
I think that being able to homeschool and watch your children learn really is awesome. It is awesome to see the light come on in their eyes as they master a new concept and realize truth. I love the ability to be able to teach our religious beliefs in our school. It is awesome to have a school where prayer is allowed and expected. It is awesome to invite God into our school and to let Him be a part of our day.
I also think it is awesome that we are able to pack up our school and get to travel with Gary at times. There is so much learning that can be accomplished on the road. And the beautiful part of that is that we don’t have to worry about Chandler missing any school for these trips. We get to stay close as a family and still learn new things. Field trips in all their many forms when you homeschool are just amazing.
B is for Brainy.
I have definitely had to use my brain to try to keep one step ahead of Chandler. He is so smart. It does pose a challenge as he is doing things that I never accomplished in public school when I was his age. Sometimes I think I am learning just as much as Chandler.
I think it is fun to learn all of the things in history and science. Next year we are gonna learn physics and chemistry. I can’t wait to get the chemistry set and blow a few things up and set them on fire outside. Chandler probably won’t have the same results that I will because he will do the experiments correctly. I will most likely have to be reigned in by Gary as I get different chemicals and say things like, “Oh, I wonder what will happen if I mix this and this together?” Hence my claims of blowing things up and setting them on fire. LOL!
Oh, and I have never claimed to be the brainy one around here. That is Chandler’s job. I just work my brain enough to find what he needs and make sure he gets it when he needs it. I tend to want to explore in the science field however. I wanted to be a scientist while growing up until one of my high school teachers drove that out of me. Oh well. It is fun to play. 😉
