My friend Heidi has been doing a link-up over at her blog called Three Things Thursday. You are supposed to just list or talk about 3 different things. They can be random things or things that go together in a theme. I thought I might participate today and we’ll see where this goes. If you all like it, I’ll keep participating.
1. I made grape juice and canned it for the first time in my life. I was blessed with a bunch of grapes from a friend who just didn’t want to put anymore up and so they asked me if I wanted them. Since I have always wanted to do this, I readily agreed and was gifted with the rest of the grapes on her vines. It was a lot. I bought a steamer and managed to get (over and beyond the stuff we just flat out drank), 24 quarts and 5 pints of juice. I am thrilled. I told my husband that I want him to plant me a vineyard. I need lots and lots of my own grapes. It isn’t a want. This is a necessity.
2. I ran across a super easy recipe for banana bread the other week. I decided to try it and see if we liked it. We did and it really was so easy. I then thought to myself, why couldn’t I tweak it and turn it into chocolate banana muffins for the boy? I tried it and they are fabulous. We are about to go in and make a new batch. I’ll snap a photo this time and share the recipe here on my blog tomorrow.
3. I made sloppy joes for 200 people yesterday for a church harvest dinner. My husband volunteered me to do it. I agreed once he told me he had offered me up to do it. Believe it or not, 200 sounded much easier than the 1000 he asked me to do a few years ago. And this time I didn’t need to make apple crisp and pumpkin pie as well. Everyone else brought the desserts and salads. And the men cooked the corn on the cob. It was a great dinner, but I am glad that task is through. A Today is kind of a day to recuperate. We’ll hit it hard again tomorrow.
