Today I am thankful for music. Music has played an important part of my life for many, many years. In fact, here is something you may not know about me: I was once a music major. I went to college on a full scholarship for the French Horn and for Voice. My whole life was planned for me and had I followed the path that my instructors planned for me, I would be touring the world as an accomplished musician. There is a lot to that story and why I chose not to do it, to their dismay. However, suffice it to say I knew that God had a different plan for me and I wouldn’t have my son or my husband if I had followed that path.
I do miss performing at times though. Which is why I am glad for the annual Christmas concert that my church choir puts on each year. I get to sing with a bunch of super talented people and have a blast doing it. I get to sit next to one of my best girlfriends and sing praises about the birth of our Savior. That is pretty awesome if you ask me. This year I was completely thrilled to find out that we are going to be singing Canon in D. That is a favorite of mine and at practice on Sunday evening, I kept waiting for U2 to be inserted into the music. I am afraid that Jon Schmidt ruined me on this song forever. His version is just so awesome. See what I mean:
What are you thankful for today?
