Today I am thankful for change. I know that might sound crazy, but in this case, I find it refreshing. Usually change is difficult and sometimes it is painful. Other times it is invigorating and exciting. It brings with it challenge. And that is a good thing.
So what in the world could I possibly be talking about? Well, my church responsibilities. For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been in charge of the music program for the children at church. It has been fun and challenging to teach them new songs about Jesus and gospel principles. It is perhaps one of my very favorite things to do at church. But sometimes God knows we need a change. This is how we grow and use other talents and bless others as well as ourselves as we serve.
Sunday I was asked if I would be in charge of the Nursery program at our church. So I am now the Nursery Leader. I have been visiting these little precious children each week and teaching them songs about Jesus. But now I will be with them for 2 hours each and every Sunday. I am excited about teaching these little cuties about Jesus and how much He loves them every week. We will still sing, but we will also do other things. The fun part about Nursery in our church is that the children are 18 months to 3 years old. It should be lots of fun each week.
I did hate saying goodbye to the rest of the children though. It made me cry as they all told me thank you for teaching them songs about Jesus these past couple of years. I will miss being with them each week.
I decided that we would just have some fun for my last Sunday with them. We had a snowball fight for music time. I had them each write down their favorite Primary song (our children’s program is called Primary), on a piece of paper. It was cute because the younger kids quickly drew a picture of their song. Then I had them wad their paper up into a ball. Then I counted to 3 and they all got to throw their “snowball” at me. Then I chose a “snowball” and we sang whichever song they had written down. It was fun and there were lots of giggles and lots of really great singing.
But this next Sunday will find me in a different room with the very smallest children. I have my lesson picked out and will work on it this week. I will most likely go over to the church and check out the closet and see what is there and what I need to bring. It will be a new adventure. Sometimes change is good. I am thankful that this is a nice change,
What are you thankful for today?
