Can you believe that today we are halfway to the end of our journey and challenge? I know we have lost a couple of participants. I am grateful for all of you who are still here and pushing through this challenge with me. I know that I have been blessed by focusing on the things I am thankful and grateful for instead of all of the other things that can get in the way of a perfectly good day.
Today I am grateful that I got to be born in a time with modern conveniences. I like the comforts that they bring to me. I like the friendships they have brought to me. I am really glad that I didn’t have to live in the days of the pioneer. Though I think I could do it successfully, I just really like my modern day conveniences.
I like running water and having a toilet inside. I’m just saying…
I like that I can work online and meet wonderful people and make such great friends that just wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the internet. Things would sure not be the same without the wonderful friends I have made online. And this challenge would be a lot lonelier. I know I could still be taking the challenge myself, but I wouldn’t get to read all of the wonderful things you are all thankful for each day.
I really liked that last night I got to curl up in a chair and watch the Hallmark channel. I like to watch those warm and fuzzy Christmas movies. I’m a sap for those and I actually got to take control of remote and watch something that I wanted to watch. I chose sap, which is probably why my boys don’t let me have the remote often. But it was a nice modern day convenience.
I love that I can use my computer to create things and store info that I want. I love that I can pick up the phone and call someone when I want to talk. I love my dishwasher. I hate doing dishes, and that make it just a little nicer. I like that I can just adjust the thermostat when I am cold and heat is available. I love that I can turn on a light when it is dark, so I can read a great book.
I love that I have a microwave to defrost meat when I forgot to take it out of the freezer in time for dinner. I love that I have a stove and oven that isn’t reliant on wood or coal. I am glad I don’t have to cook over a campfire for every single meal. It makes it more fun to do that when we are camping, because it is a novelty.
Yes, while I could live without all of these things and more, I am glad that i don’t have to. I am glad that God let me be born during a time when I can have all of these things. Today, I am thankful for modern day conveniences.
What are you thankful for today?
