Today I am filled with gratitude for a Heavenly Father who cares about us very much and is aware of the needs of His children. Our God is so awesome!
As some of you are aware, I mentioned in a Menu Plan Monday post that things are very tight for us financially this month. We had an unexpected bill that literally wiped out our bank account and left us with not a lot for the entire month. We had no choice about paying this bill and there were no arrangements that could be made. This time of year is always tighter as my husband doesn’t make a lot of commission during this time. He usually does fairly well in the Spring, and we try to budget to get us through the last few months of the year.
I was worried about how we would pay our basic bills and how to keep my husband out on his job. He travels frequently for his job and we need a certain amount of funds in order for him to be able to sleep in hotels and eat while he is away. He gets reimbursed for these expenses, but we still need to have the money upfront. Most of the other employees rely on credit cards to do their job. We made a commitment to only use the funds on our bank account so there would not be any temptations to not pay the debt. So that means that we have to have the funds available for him to do his job. This unexpected expense took everything, and that was before I had even paid our rent. We began to pray in earnest for help. There was just no way we were going to be able to make it this month without some help.
Slowly, the Lord began to work on our problems. My paycheck arrived and we had just enough to pay our rent, but not anything else. We were still worried about paying our utilities and insurances. I also felt strongly about getting our Bountiful Baskets order each week, but knew we might have to go without. The next day in the mail, we received an offer from a place with which we had a personal loan that offered us the chance to renew our loan and actually get an additional amount of money. We really didn’t want to do that, as we would have the loan paid off this next year. But we both felt very calm about it and decided that perhaps this was a way that God was going to help us out at the moment. So we renewed our loan. The funny thing was that when we did that, our monthly payment actually decreased substantially and the terms were better. We’ll still try to pay it off earlier, as we don’t want the debt, but it was a welcome surprise.
The next day, I received a call from Nest video. I had purchased their Bible videos and was making monthly payments to pay those off. They take an automatic payment and then ship me a few videos each month. Those were due to be payed off this next Spring as well. They wanted to offer me some CD’s that they had on sale. I turned it down, and the salesman then said, “Oh, I forgot to mention something. This would take the place of your regular shipment and we can just push that forward a month or two. This would be less money for this month and next month if you want to get the complete set. Then your regular shipments would resume in January. Does that make a difference?” I knew that this was an answer to our prayers as well. So I said yes, and authorized the money. With the difference in that payment, we finally had enough money to pay all of our bills for the month, and for me to be able to order our Bountiful Basket each week. We received a couple of reimbursement checks, so we felt that my husband could go on his next work trip if we were very careful. We felt relief and prayed thanks unto our Father in Heaven for his generosity in our behalf.
Then something amazing happened. Immediately after that I received an inquiry from a writing contact asking if I could do a quick writing job for a client of theirs. I had experience in writing for the UK, and this was what was needed. She just felt like she should ask me. I accepted the job thinking that the rate was wonderful and the extra funds would be wonderful to have next month when I got paid for it. I stayed up till about 4 am writing that assignment earlier this week. I invoiced for it on Thursday, and to my astonishment, I had the payment for my services on Friday morning. I have never been paid so quickly ever.
Since we now had a little more money, we knew things would be just fine for my hubby and his job. But we decided that maybe we should take a small amount of that money and purchase our first deer license. I have been hunting as a girl with my Dad, but my hubby was the youngest in his family, and his brothers were all away when he was old enough to hunt. His Dad thought he was too old to go, so my hubby never really had the opportunity. He had taken a hunter safety course when he was a teen, which is required in our state in order to hunt. My nephew called him today and asked if he wanted to go, so we quickly purchased the license and we went on a field trip.
I am proud to say that my hubby shot his first deer today and only had to shoot once. He was able to drop the deer on his first shot. While he hadn’t been hunting, he is a good shot. The only license he was able to get was a general one, which for now means a doe or fawn. The deer he shot calmly looked at him and just stood there. He was less than 100 yards away. He said, “I’m sorry mama deer, and Thank you Heavenly Father.” Then he shot the deer and she dropped right down. We had a short biology lesson while cleaning her out. Chandler was fascinated with the whole thing.
Now, thanks to our Heavenly Father and my hubby, we will have a freezer that is stocked full of meat. My freezer needed to be replenished, and our Heavenly Father provided for us once again. I am just so grateful and I feel so blessed. Things will still be tight and we will still need to be careful, but now we are just back to the normal level. And for that I am truly amazed. I share all of this because we have never had anything happen like this for us before. Not to this extent. It is humbling and we are so filled with gratitude for a Heavenly Father who cares and loves us. Thank you Father for taking care of us.
What are you thankful for today?
